Overview:

This course will teach attendees how to develop and maintain the Security Model of a Business Objects deployment. Using demo's, discussions and hands- on workshops, you will learn how to define, allocate and control user profiles, documents and universes.

I. T. Professionals who need to develop and maintain the Security Model of a Business Objects deployment.

Prerequisites:

  • Familiarity with the Windows environment
  • Basic knowledge of the Business Objects reporting tool
Topics
  • Creating the Repository - This section describes how to create a repository for use in a BUSINESSOBJECTS deployment. You will be aware of the different domains that make up a repository, and the differences between monolithic and distributed repositories.
  • Groups and Users - This section describes how to set up groups and users for your BUSINESSOBJECTS deployment. You will understand different ways of organizing groups and users, how to change group and user properties, and understand the different types of users in a typical deployment.
  • Command Restrictions - This section describes how to define the access different users have to the various commands in the USER, DESIGNER and SUPERVISOR modules of BUSINESSOBJECTS.
  • Distributed Repository Architecture - This section describes how to create a distributed repository. This is where a repository has more than one universe or document domain. You will also understand when to use more than one repository.
  • Allocating Repository Resources - This section describes how to allocate universe and document domains to groups of Users and Designers. It also describes how to export a universe from the DESIGNER module.
  • Configuring Universe Resources (Universe Overrides) - This section describes how to allocate universes to groups, then configure the universes on a group by group basis. You will understand the differences between configuring universes in the DESIGNER module and the SUPERVISOR module and be introduced to the different configuration changes you can make.
  • Categories and Channels - This section describes how to set up categories for organizing reports and channels for distributing reports on the Broadcast Server.
