Adobe Training Description

You already know how to create a basic multi-page document. In this course, you will build upon those skills, using additional techniques to manipulate text, pictures, and pages. You will control type formatting, create and edit graphics, and create and modify layouts with efficiency and accuracy.

Adobe Training Prerequisites

To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following course or have equivalent knowledge:

  • InDesign® CS: Creating Basic Publications (Level 1 - Windows)

Certification

This courseware title addresses the Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) Program objectives for the Photoshop CS exam. The ACE Program is for graphic designers, Web designers, developers, systems integrators, value-added resellers, and business professionals who seek recognition for their expertise with specific Adobe products. Certification candidates must pass a product proficiency exam in order to become an Adobe Certified Expert.

Hardware Software Requirements

  • An Intel Pentium II, III, or 4 processor.
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 2), or XP operating system.
  • A hard disk with at least 185 MB of available hard disk space to install the InDesign® CS software, and an additional 10 MB of free hard disk space for the course data files.
  • At least 128 MB of random-access memory (RAM).
  • A CD-ROM drive.
  • Monitor resolution of at least 256 colors at 1024 X 768 pixels.
  • Adobe® InDesign® CS.
Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Base master pages on others; and apply master pages to multiple pages.
  • Decide whether to retain formatting, base styles on one another; and import and redefine styles.
  • Position graphics so they flow within text; control composition, hyphenation, and justification; track and kern types; and scale text frames.
  • Drag items between document windows; import files from various formats; and store and retrieve items in libraries.
  • Edit paths; create compound paths; edit clipping paths; and convert text to outlines.
  • Create sections to change page numbering within a document; and navigate in a sectioned document.
  • Create a table of contents; create an index; and create a book consisting of multiple documents.
  • Save print presets; and work with printing color separation.
  • Import XML tags and apply them to document content; and import XML into a document's layout placeholders and into a blank document.
