Adobe ColdFusion 8: Level 2
This course is provided by Wintrac. Wintrac provides one stop shopping for all your IT training needs. Wintrac’s course catalog of over two thousand courses includes courses on Adobe Training

Adobe Training Description

You have created dynamic, non-database-driven websites using Adobe? ColdFusion? 8. Most professionally-built and complex websites are powered by a database. In the Adobe? ColdFusion? 8: Level 2 course, you will build dynamic, database-driven websites.

Adobe Training Objective

You will retrieve information from a database and display it on a web page, enable drill-down functionality through which users can view detailed information on demand, display subsets of data through a recordset navigation system, enable database-driven searching capabilities, and add features that lets you build reports and add charts to your website.

Target Student

The target students for this course are those who have added dynamic features to their website using ColdFusion 8.0 and who want to connect their website to a database. They are those who will be developing their own solutions rather than using off-the-shelf components, those who might be familiar with another programming language, or those who have used UltraDev to develop their ColdFusion solutions. It is likely that their primary job responsibility is creating web pages.

Adobe Training Prerequisites

Students taking this course should first complete the Adobe? ColdFusion? 8: Level 1 course or have equivalent knowledge. Students will be especially well prepared if they also take the SQL: Fundamentals of Querying and Relational Database Design courses or have equivalent knowledge before attending this course.

Delivery Method

Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.

Hardware Requirements

  • Minimum of 512 MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
  • 15 GB hard disk or larger
  • 1 GHz Pentium-class processor or faster
  • 1024 x 768 resolution monitor is recommended
  • Mouse or other pointing device
  • Installed printer drivers
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Internet Access (contact your local network administrator)
Platform Requirements

Software Requirements

  • Adobe? ColdFusion? 8.0
  • Adobe? ColdFusion? Report Builder
  • Adobe? Dreamweaver? CS3
  • Adobe? Flash? Player 9.0 or later
  • Adobe? Reader? 7.0 or later
  • Microsoft? Internet Explorer? 6.0 or later
  • Microsoft? Office 2007?
  • Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.1 or later
  • WinZip?
  • Java Development Kit 5.0 (Update 14)
Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • build a web page that retrieves information from a database.
  • create a data drill-down application in which web pages retrieve detailed records based on user selections on web pages that list summary record information.
  • create an application that displays subsets of records selected from a database and enables the user to view other subsets on demand.
  • add features to a database-driven web site that enables users to search the database for records and have the results displayed on a web page.
  • create functions and custom tags.
  • create reports, charts, and forms.
